Creating an environment that welcomes new perspectives

By Pasquale Serrone
Westchester Chapter President

It is my honor to be named this year’s president of the NYSSCPA’s Westchester Chapter. When I joined this board three years ago, I did not think I would someday earn the privilege of this title. It is hard for me to process, but I have been in the accounting industry for almost 10 years. While earning my bachelor’s degree in accounting from Iona University in 2015, I began my career at a midsize firm as a tax intern. Shortly after, while earning my MBA at Iona University, I was hired full time and eventually worked my way up to supervisor over my seven-year tenure. In 2022, I joined Deloitte as a tax manager, where I currently work in the Private Wealth Tax practice servicing ultra-high-net-worth individuals with estate, gift, trust and individual tax matters. During this time, I also joined the board, where I have had the opportunity to serve among many incredible people.

First, I would like to thank the outgoing board members for their dedication to serving this board over the years. These members have served as role models for me and should be appreciated for all their contributions. Second, I would like to thank our current board members who I very much look forward to working with. We have been afforded a tremendous opportunity to take this board to its next level, which I fully intend on doing.

I intend to fulfill my duties as president and create an environment that welcomes new perspectives. There is strength in our diversity, and I encourage these different perspectives to be shared. We can’t do this without the commitment of our members. Our chapter is always looking for new members, so I strongly encourage anyone who is interested to contact me.

In our upcoming year, this board will be dedicated to serving the Westchester accounting community. All feedback is welcome as we look to serve the best we can. Here’s to an exciting year ahead!

The presiding President of the Westchester Chapter is Pasquale Serrone.
Chartered April 12, 1954, this chapter encompasses the county of Westchester.
